The term xylography indicates the engraving technique that involves the carving of a wooden matrix with special instruments whose surface is dug out as a reserve, leaving in relief the part corresponding to the drawing. Once the carving is finished, the relief part is inked by means of a roller and then printed on the sheet of paper through a simple uniform manual pressure or through the printing press.
